MY THOUGHTS, EXPERIENCE + RATING
3-5stars Rilakkuma

I have used this eye gel for a month + overall I feel that it’s just Okay. I am not overly impressed with it but I am also not extremely disappointed either. I gave it 3 out of 5 Rilakkuma’s (Yes, this is a thing now lol). The texture is very nice + light. There is no fragrance which is nice especially since my facial skin is crazy sensitive. The gel gives a nice cooling effect which is pleasing + I feel helps reduce puffiness a bit. The texture is really nice +  kind of thick but melts away into the skin leaving it very moisturized + smooth. The company claims that this gel reduces the appearance of fine lines but in that department I see not a single change. I used this product twice a day as well but still, I didn’t notice a change at all. Not everything is for everyone so I think I may need something with slightly stronger ingredients for my under eyes. With that said, I would actually recommend it to other because he really does feel nice on the skin + is very light once absorbed. I just don’t feel I would purchase this myself unless it works better after further use.

So all,  I hope you found this review helpful + maybe this will work out for you! Let me know if you try it because I would be interested to know what your results are like!

NYX Honey Dew Me Up – First Impressions + Final Thoughts!

IMG_20140607_233916

Hello beauties!!

I know I’ve been gone for a little bit but I’ve been exhausted!! It takes me an hour + a half to get to work each morning and about a full 2 hours to get home!! My days are long + exhausting + sometimes I just need to rest so I hope you all understand!

So, this post (+ a few others coming up) are way over due but better later than never right?? So I purchased the NYX  Honey Dew Me Up Primer off of the NYX website. I tend to get all giddy and sparkly eyed when I see new items so I had to try it out! The primer cost $17 which I thought was a bit much but of course, I decided to buy it any way hahaha. Now, on to what I thought + the post I left on the NYX site.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When I received my package, I was super excited and couldn’t wait to try this product. Right away I was put off by the spatula. That didn’t seem very sanitary to me. To explain my impression further, let me show you what I posted on the NYX website…

★★★★★2 out of 5 stars.

Not as geat as I was expecting…

I will post on my blog with more detail but, this primer just is not for me! I thought it would be amazing because soooo many NYX products are. This formula doesn’t seem to be any different when it comes to basic priming. The gold flakes are a bit random and not small enough to illuminate the skin. The product feels wet and sticky to me and makes my combo/oily skin a wee bit unhappy. Also, the packaging would be so much better in a pump form…much more sanitary. All in all this product has the potential to be great but I just don’t think it’s there yet.

 No
I do not recommend this product.
CURRENT THOUGHTS
I decided to try this product again after watching other reviews + talking to a few people + we agree that this product is much better as a serum and not a primer! When I use the product this way, I can actually see benefits. I first cleanse my face, exfoliate, then tone. After I tone my skin, the Honey Dew Me Up seeps into the skin must better + does not leave that sticky + wet feeling. After about a week my skin looked much healthier + plump. I feel like the gold in the product is still pointless but the ingredients are rather nice if used the right way. I really feel this product should be repackaged + marketed as a serum because it’s got great potential!!
Overall I am starting to like this product since using it the new way. Hopefully NYX will see that this is a much better product when used a serum! I hope you guys found this post helpful and I will chat with you again soon!
Until Next Time…

Sponsored Review: Valentia Skin Care – Even Glow Serum Review

Hey all!

I am back today with a review of a new product that I’ve been trying out. So I am majorly into skincare and anytime I get a chance to try something new and cool, I am all for it. The product I received is the Even Glow Serum from Valentia Skin Care.

CYMERA_20140608_205853

Right off I want to say that not everything is for everyone so if it doesn’t/does work for me of course it may/may not work for you…on that note, this product did not work for me. 😦

I have really sensitive combonation/oily skin so sometimes just sunlight breaks my skin out. This product was unfortunately one of those factors that caused my skin to react negitively however, this could work great for someone with less sensitive skin!

CYMERA_20140608_205944

This product seems to be something that would provide amazing benefits and has some ingredients in it that I know has work wonders for a lot of people but in combination, make my skin break out in a rash. I sampled a few areas and had the same reaction in each area.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Overall, I again feel this products has potential. The scent is nice and smells like orange citrus. The color is also an orange color and looks like a natural shade not bright and artificial. The serum absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn’t feel sticky at all. very nice texture. If you don’t have sensitive skin, I think this will work for you. Give it a try and see how your skin benefits from it! Hope you found this helpful!!

Thoughts + Extras!

Overall, I think these are really great products, the only thing I do not fancy is that Pina Colada and April look exactly the same on my skin because they are light colors but contain gold shimmers + only the gold picks up on my complexion, other than that, I love these! The formula is very smooth + the pigmentation is amazing!! I think my favorites are Cannon Ball + Deep End. Those Purple and Blue shades are just crazy gorgeous!!

My April + May Faves 2014

IMG_20140524_002240

Hello there great people of the world! Hope everyone is feeling awesome!! Today feesl really nice out but instead of going out, I decided to do a blog post about my monthly faves. I do plan to go out later though ^_^.  I really haven’t done a favorites…anything in a while, not on my blog or on youtube, so I felt it was about that time + this time I will try to stick with it as much as possible. Okay, enough of my rambling + lets get to it sugars!!

MAKEUP

IMG_20140524_003800

From left to right: Shades are Redwood, Guava, + Mauve. Bought these for $1 each at ShopMissA.com. These are really pigmented + look great on light + darker skin tones. Love’em!!

IMG_20140524_015419

I first heard about this product on YouTube + have been hooked since I found it in a beauty supply store while in Georgia while on a business trip. I also found it in my local beauty supply store + continue to use it. It works so well + could be compared to the Urban Decay Primer Potion. My eye shadow last ALL day + I just love it! It’s about $4. The only thing I wish was different is the packaging. If it was in a squeeze tube, I would be in heaven for sure!

IMG_20140524_015546

I love this Mascara so much! This is my 2nd tube + I will continue to use it when I want a less expensive yet super effective mascara. This mascara helps your lashes to grow + give you that false lash look. Such a great product! I think this was like $8.99 at my local Walgreens.

SKIN/BODY CARE

IMG_20140524_015811

I have been on a Rimmel kick lately so of course I wanted to try out their eye makeup remover. I must say, I really like this! I can get a great deal of makeup off with one swipe + that make things so much easier, especially when you just want to hurry + go to bed! This was about $6 at Walgreens.

IMG_20140524_012044

This product is a repurchase for me + I still love it. I use this along with the Rimmel eye makeup remover to remove everything before washing. This is $7 at Pretty + Cute

IMG_20140524_020123

I actually have had this in my cabinet for a bit now + just started using this combo + it’s a good one!! This combo helps so much with keeping my oily/combination skin in check which is great because I find myself having to blot a lot less!! I received this as a gift from Olay but I know for certain this can be found at drugstores!

IMG_20140524_015110

I love this little set. It has everything you need for proper grooming however, I don’t find the foil head attachment very useful at all. It doesn’t seem to make any difference to me. Maybe I’m just doing it all wrong lol,  This was $19.99 at Walgreens + comes with a brush head which helps aid in keeping ingrown hairs at bay.

FRAGRANCE

IMG_20140524_004355

I  received this in a birthday package a friend sent me + fell in love with it! This is my “Grown + Sexy” night out fragrance + I plan on buying the full size as soon as I can.  I have no idea why I didn’t try this scent out sooner but better late than never I say! You can find the fragrance at Sephora.

FASHION

IMG_20140524_004826

I love love love this faux leather jacket from Torrid. I had been looking for one forever + I finally found this and had to have it. I got it from the website for $98.50. This jacket looks so good with so many looks. I may need to do a lookbook styling this baby!!

IMG_20140524_005330

This watch is so cool. I really like over sized watches + think they are so chic with jeans, a graphic tee + blazers or with a nice billowy blouse. This one is really loose on my wrist so I have to push it up a bit but I don’t mind that at all. I got it from ModDeals + I think you should check out all the cool watches they have for really inexpensive cost!!

IMG_20140524_014554

I am really loving black + white wardrobe pieces. Anyone who knows me knows I love wearing all black everything but I have recently really have gotten into wearing a lot of white as well. The jeans are from Torrid + they are the skinny fit  for $58.50 + this kick ass Dalek  shirt  (I am an obsessed Doctor Who fan since childhood) is from 6dollarshirts for $8.00 ( larger sizes cost a bit more).

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed my favorites for April + May + please look out for my future favorites post as well as other deep post + beauty post.

Until Next Time…

My Hair Care Routine!

HairCareRoutine

In my years, I have put my hair through a lot + then some! I have colored my hair, cut it , grew it out, cut it shorter than needed, curls, relaxers…I’ve done some major alternations to the locks the good Lord gave me + now, I want to grow it out again and make it healthy!

MY HAIR TEXTURE:

I have African – American, Multi-Cultured hair. My natural curls are very loose + my hair is very fine/thin.

HAIR HISTORY:

So about a year ago I cut my hair into a pixie cut. This was one of the shortest styles I had ever had + also the hardest to grow out. When I decided to grow my hair out, I started to wear extensions + weaves + after a while all the heat styling + relaxing to straighten my hair damaged it. My hair would break off + shed like you would not believe in the shower…OMG it was a complete hot mess!

After a while I stopped relaxing my hair + using heat on it + just shampooed + conditioned it + continued with wearing weaves. This made the situation better but didn’t fix the problem. My hair was dry + still shedding like crazy but after about 8 months my hair had grown out from a pixie cut to shoulder length  but, it was extremely damaged!

HAIR CUT…AGAIN:

I decided to relax my hair so that I could style it in a few ways but due to my hair being so fine, it just looked flat with no body or oomph what’s so ever. I decided to go to my local hair salon, HairMasters, + requested a cut that was not too short because I wanted to grow my hair out but enough to get rid of my dead/split ends + she did just that! My stylist got rid of all the dead ends + cut my hair into layers so it had body + bounce! A M A Z I N G!! My hair was now up to my ears but hey, it was the healthiest it had been in ages!!

MY CURRENT ROUTINE + LENGTH:

20140330_115951       vitamin gummies

I made it a priority to take better care of my hair so I learned about co-washing as well as vitamins that would not bother me (due to crazy fillers). I started using Hair, Skin + Nails by this stuff has worked really well for me along with my hair care regimen.  I chew 2 to 4 of these gummies  a day + I have noticed a lovely amount of growth. I couldn’t put my hair in a ponytail when I first got it cut (05-06-2014) + after 5 weeks, my hair had grown 3-4 inches! I was pretty impressed with that. My hair is continuing to grow and I can’t wait to update on that in some time as well.

Now on to the good stuff…the actual routine!

I co-wash my hair about 3 times a week and use the below products:

Herbal Essence Naked Cleansing Conditioner (to remove any build up – used on days where I play hard!)

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Conditioner (to moisturize and repair damage – used on every wash)

L’Oreal Total Repair  5 Deep Conditioner (used once a week)

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle (no pictured – used once a week)

Organix Macadamia Oil Conditioner (used on days my hair feels more dry)

**The other two products I no longer use**

After I wash my hair I comb it out which feels amazing because based on the conditioners I use, I don’t have any tangles or knots. My hair feels so soft + silky…the feeling of healthy hair! If I plan to let my hair air dry, I use the products in the photo below. The oils keep my hair moisturized without build up + the oil cream helps my hair to hold shape when I style. The cream can cause build up so I try not to use too much.

20140504_124716

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Oil

Organix Coconut Milk Oil

ORS Olive Oil Cream/Hair Lotion

When I do blow dry or flat iron my hair, when it’s damp I use one of the oils on my ends + rub the remaining through my hair. I also use the Frizz-Ease 3 Day Straight all over my hair, comb it through then blow dry + flat iron accordingly. I have realized that this method has cut down on heat damage significantly but I still only do this method about once or twice a month to be safe!

Frizz Ease

All in all, this method I have started works great for my hair. I love the way my hair feels + looks now! My main goal was to achieve beautiful heathy hair + I feel that I am on the right track to achieving that goal! What’s your favorite hair care routine or product? Leave a comment + let me know!!

April Birchbox #1: My first experience with the company!

20140423_062949

I have tried many monthly subscriptions but I haven’t tried many beauty based ones, sooooo, I decided to cancel my Ipsy/Glam Bag subscription and start a Birchbox subscription. Hmmm, I don’t know how I’m going to like it but lets see what this first one has to offer shall we!?

20140423_065126

The Birchbox is $10 a month which was a fair trade since the Ipsy bag was the same, so I was cool with that. When I first opened the box the first thing I thought was, “Hey…the box interior is really cute!” If I’ve never mentioned it before (which I don’t think I have lol) I really love the chevron pattern as well as stripes, so this caught my eye. The items in the box were wrapped nicely in a light blue paper which I also liked…it’s the little the things that matter ;}. There were two inserts on top of the wrapped paper, a description card of the items inside and a cute little card  with a tip of the day on it.

20140423_065318

Inside was a KIND bar, Fekkai shampoo sample, Gilchrist + Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash, Sumita eyeliner pencil, and Hello perfume by Harvey Prince. The KIND bar was okay, it was good but not great. I may try other flavors but this particular one (Pumkin) I wasn’t very crazy about. The other items I haven’t tried yet but when I do you better believe your fashionable bottoms, you’ll be the first to know!!

Have you tried Birchbox? If so, let me know what you think and what was your favorite item! I want to know if you think it’s worth continuing with!! This one was okay but I hope this month has something more exciting to offer! Well that’s all for today but I’ll be back with more soon lovelies!

Until next time…
