Fenty Beauty: Just what we needed!

IMG_20170918_202702_592So as everyone knows unless you’ve been living under a rock (lol), Rihanna came out with her amazing makeup line which launched for Sephora. It has been one of the most talked about makeup releases in a very long time + as a woman of color, I’m very proud we are included right of the jump.

You can read many many articles about this line so I won’t ramble on too much but I will share with you what I bought + a video on how it looks on my skin type + tone.

SEPHORA SHOPPING TRIP

Here is the mini Fenty Display at Sephora.

Here is the larger display at Sephora. You can hear at the end, one of the staff tells me I have beautiful skin. Of course, I got shy like I always do like the derp I am lolol.

WHAT I PURCHASED:

20170918_045639

Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer SIZE 1.08 oz/ 32 mL Cost: $32

20170918_032036

This is a swatch of the primer. Very smooth + creamy but not at all oily. Melts right into the skin + has a light fall like/spicy sweet scent.

20170918_045631

Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation  Shade: 450 SIZE 1.08 oz/ 32 mL Cost: $34

20170918_043141

This foundation goes on smoothly + dries down quickly to a soft matte. The product does oxidize slightly but nothing too crazy in my opinion. You don’t feel like you’re wearing foundation, it just feels like skin!

20170918_045617

Invisimatte Blotting Powder SIZE 0.3 oz/ 8.5 g Cost: $32

20170918_045559

20170918_050117

The cushion is nice + I use it for on the go purposes but not for my daily application. It’s soft + the back has this faux leather texture. Simple + classy.

Here you can kind of get a look at the packaging. It’s white with this shimmery purple pearlescent effect. Very pretty!

20170918_023821

Precision Makeup Sponge 100 Cost: $16.00

20170918_023810

This sponge is very similar to the Beauty Blender in regards to the feel of it. It’s also latex free so it work for those who may be allergic to latex. I like this one a lot + it blends really nicely.

20170918_045519

Match Stix Matte Skinstick SIZE 0.25 oz/ 7.10 g Cost: $25.00

20170918_045310

This Match Stix is in Espresso. It was the deepest shade + I thought I would try it for contouring + it worked really well + blended out beautifully + easily.

20170918_045648

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter SIZE 2 x 0.12 oz/ 3.5 g Shades: Ginger Binge/ Moscow Mule Cost: $34.00

20170918_045746

I swatched both colors + the Moscow Mule shade is a bit more pigmented + shimmery. The colors are very cooper/rose gold like + just looks so so pretty!

20170918_045258

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer SIZE 0.30 oz/ 9 mL Shade: Fenty Glow – shimmering rose nude Cost: $18.00

20170918_045244

This gloss is so nice. It’s not sticky and just feels really nice on the lips. It has a candy sweet scent + reminds me of Starburst. It’s a pretty nude mauve/brown + just looks good on every skin tone. It also has nice little gold shimmers in it but it’s not over the top.

Over all, I am really impressed with the first launch of Fenty Beauty + I cannot wait to see what else she comes up with because this is a brand I would highly recommend to try out. Check out my video below demoing the items I purchased!

Being Black in America…

1498745353334

There are so many things I can say about being Black in America. I could say that I am a melanin goddess that absorbs the rays of sun and glisten like gold. I could say that my culture inspires many in the world and I am proud to see such growth. I could say that the moon and the stars are a reflection of my eyes and smile and the dark of night is the echo of my flesh but no…that’s not what it’s like to be Black in America.

In this world, in this country…I am either too Black or not Black enough. I speak properly and enunciate my words, oh I must be “trying to be white”! I like certain rap songs that make me dance and “Oh, I’m so ghetto” or “Okay Shaniqua”. Why has Shaniqua become an insult or backhanded compliment? You do know Shaniqua means God is Gracious in Africa and means Beautiful Spirit in India right? Okay, well hell yeah…I am Shaniqua but when you use it, you better put some respect on it and know what you’re talking about.

Also, being Black in America comes with those ever so prominent double standards. Black and Brown facing…Who in the right mind thought that was okay?? Just recently a friend stated she was sick of this happening on a post of an individual on Facebook doing this exact thing and her comment was blocked by facebook but the post was not removed for being inappropriate. Also, several Black women in the Cosplay community were told that they were not accurate when cosplaying because they are Black and this needs to stop yet, these comments were not removed even when reported. But okay…this shit doesn’t happen…

The way things are handled by a lot of police are clear as day when it comes to Black people yet people want to hide their heads in the sand and state that it’s all a lie or you’re thinking too much. Thinking too much my chocolate ass! Why is it always shoot to kill when it’s an unarmed Black man but a man of common European features is taken in practically unscathed…after murdering MANY…please explain?? I’ll wait…

Another thing that really gets to me is not only other races speaking down to Black people but Black people doing it to each other!! I’m over hearing about the one drop rule…stop with that slave mentality bullshit!! Some of us are All African and some of us are not and that’s okay. Just because my skin is dark does not mean I HAVE to denounce every other element that made my family who they are today. Those hurts and struggles should be something we learn from and help us to be better people, help us to know what our people went through and be proud that we made it. Did you ever think that slave owners made that “one drop rule” so that we would feel less worldly? Make us feel like we are not of this earth as a whole but only where THEY found us? Maybe, just maybe, they wanted us to be stuck in a box so we could be forgotten about but no…NO WE WILL NOT!!

I dislike how you try to be well traveled and understand other cultures and languages and your own people, Black people try to find something negative to say about it. I want to be less like those who stole from our people and more like those who want to be kind and understand cultures, not try to stomp them out because we don’t understand. We need to be better than those who dragged us.  Why can’t we see that?? Also, God forbid Africa is not the first place on your list to travel! You’re either a traitor to your people or you are too American and “They won’t accept you like that over there”. Ugh…it’s exhausting.

Overall, being black in America is exactly that…exhausting. You can never seem to do anything right because everyone has something to say and my answer to that is HAVE A TALL GLASS OF STFU AND LET PEOPLE LIVE!! Stop being in a slave mentality. Stop being racist assholes like the ones who want to shoot a black man because they “feared for their life” even though there was evidence of nothing to fear? Hmmm, wonder if that would work the other way around?? Stop talking down to your fellow black women and learn how to be supportive. Stop dissing black owned companies and actually try to build them up especially the small businesses that may be struggling. Stop doing Black and Brown face and trying to justify it! Stop Sexualizing the Black female and seeing her only as a “Baby Mama”. Just stop because being Black in America with all these other factors against us is hard enough.

If you are still with me through all this, this is the end of my rant! I am just pissed off and I feel this needed to be said. People just don’t want to listen and that whole being “set in your ways” is not an excuse. We need…NEED to get it together as a human race but the Black race needs to no longer be a target. There is no reason to hate us or fear us but I guess when you have something other people want, you always have haters.

Update – Why I was M.I.A so much

Hey guys!!

Wanted to share a video with you explaining why I kept feeling sick and going M.I.A so often. I was so exhausted and I had absolutely no control over it because my body was having some major issues!

Possible Eye Filler Alternative??

Hey guys!!!!!

I know I have been away a hella long time + I will be explaining all of that in a video soon because it’s way too much to simply type in a blog post!! Lots of life changes + stuff to do with my health + just being plain B U S Y ! ! For all of you who have stuck around through my hiatus, I am so thankful for you + appreciate you more than you will ever know!

So, to start my blog resurgence, I wanted to share this blog post I wrote some time ago because this eye cream is so amazing + I haven’t found anything else close to it in regards to results. I have decided to just go ahead + buy it again as a splurge item because I really cannot state how amazing it works.

Background: I have these under eye bags or lines that have been there as long as I can remember. I will say at least since I was about 6 years old. They are just part of my face + they only bother me because I like to wear makeup + it can cause some odd creasing that I don’t fancy.

I always tried eye creams from reputable brands but they didn’t do much except moisturize + that was that…totally not remotely impressed. I was sent the Replenix Eye Repair cream in a package back in 2012 (from Dermstore) to review + the small sample size lasted me about a year because you need so little. After a week I was hooked + shooked OKAY lolol. Definitely worth the full size purchase.

Pricing: Back then, the product was about $67.50 for 0.5 fl. oz. + now it has gone up by $13.50 for 0.5 fl. oz. So yes, it’s $81 but again, you’re not going to use much, they have a return policy here + my sample size was much smaller + lasted a year.

Wanted to share this with you all just in case anyone is on the search!

Peace, Love, + Shopping Receipts

YSL Touch Éclat Neutralizer

IMG_20160128_144338

Yay!! Got my new YSL Touche Éclat color corrector!!

This one is in Apricot Bisque and I have explained in the photo the cost and what it does for you. 🎀 This was sent to me by Influenster for review purposes!! I use this under my foundation to hide any dark spots and over my foundation on the areas I want a touch of highlight.

So far I like the effect it has. I had some darkspots from a breakout on my chin and so I applied this first and it took away that pigmentation that sometimes shows through foundation. I put a little bit on the bridge of my nose for a bit of highlight and that seemed to work well!

If you are a fan of YSL, I think you should give these a try. They have 3 colors total:

Green: Corrects blemishes, conceals redness for an even skin tone.
Bisque: Corrects dark circles and dark spots. Illuminate.
Violet: Corrects yellow dull skin for a healthy glow.

Well, that’s all I have for now but stay tuned for new reviews and goodies!!

Until Next Time…

LOVE, PEACE, AND SHOPPING RECEIPTS!
